- Step One: hoist truck.
- Step Two: remove lugnuts, and set aside carefully for Step Six.
- Step Three: remove wheel.
- Step Four: inspect brake pad. Well, looks pretty good!
- Step Five: place wheel back onto axle.
- Step Six: hmmm, what was I supposed to remember about Step Six? Ah, shoot, let's move on to the next step, and maybe it will come back to me.
- Step Seven: lower truck, and park it out front for the customer.
- Step Eight: wave real pretty-like as Jeff drives off with truck, "safety check" completed.
"Well, I'll be darned... how did I end up with five lugnuts left over today?"

This is about as good as when Lee walked out to his truck the other day and found that his tailgate was stolen. Yes, just the tailgate. Not all the tools, shop vac, ladder, etc.
Then, 2 days later, sees it laying in the middle of Oso Parkway all beat up. Some idiot stole it, put it in the back of their truck (minus the tailgate) and then probably lost it when accelerating up the hill.
Genius.
