Dandy Dish Mix-Up

Lost my Dish Network signal on my bedroom TV yesterday morning. Now, I live and breathe TV, and my TiVO is attached to that TV, so I was in serious withdrawal.

I was going to be home today, anyway, getting ready for bunco. I scheduled the technician for noon-5:00. He arrived around 12:30. He started at the satellite dish on the roof. He thought the problem was with the dish. So, he replaced the dish. Still, no signal.

He saw that the cable that runs from the dish, all along the house under the roof eaves, were stapled to my house with metal staples. He said that the staples were starting to rust and that they would leech into the cable and rust the wiring. He was sure that was what was wrong. So, he replaced all of the wiring clear around the house to my bedroom. Still, no signal.

Finally, "numb nut" checked my cable box and that was what was broken!! So, he replaced the box and I HAVE A SIGNAL!

At no cost to me, I have a new satellite dish, new wiring, and a new convertor box (plus a new remote)!! I lucked out! Boy, is he going to be in trouble with the company for not checking the box first! I'm excited, too, because my new bedroom TV I just bought is HD and so is my box now. I will have to connect my new TV and order HD programming to begin.

P.S. He didn't leave my house until 4:00!
