Butterflies or...???

On the weekend I was following a small pickup truck on the freeway. Inside the bed of the truck were cuttings from bougainvillea plants, obviously going to the dump. As the truck picked up speed, the loose flowers started to swirl up out of the bed of the truck. I was transfixed! It looked like hundreds of butterflies were swirling in a vortex of air. This scene enchanted me for several miles. I don't think the people in the truck were aware of what was happening. And, I don't know whether my fellow drivers around me were having the same surreal experience. But, it brought a smile to my face and a lasting memory!!
