In my time off this month, I have been watching re-runs of The West Wing on TV. I deeply miss that kind of TV show. The writing was intelligent, witty, worth pondering. Every episode was chock full of interesting story lines. In spite of its political agenda, it was a show for educated adults. Now, all that seems to be on TV are reality shows. I know that those are easier and cheaper to film, but at what expense for the viewers?
The only show that comes close to The West Wing, now, is NCIS. I enjoy it nearly as much, and it's always in the Top Ten for Nielsen viewers. Doesn't that say something to the networks?
I hope what goes around, comes around, and we'll see this type of TV show again. One that is sharp, clever, and worth viewing!
