BEES!

Kevin came out of our house on Saturday and nearly walked into a black cloud of thousands of bees!  They were swarming around in our front yard.  He ran to his truck for shelter.  He discovered their hive, which was located in our neighbor's front yard tree. The hive was two feet long and one foot wide! And, it was vibrating with all of the activity of thousands of bees.
Kevin and I tried to alert our neighbor, but she appeared to not be home.  I had Kevin call the police department for a number to call. They had us call Animal Control, which had us call two private bee companies.  The companies wanted to charge $150 to remove the hive!  So, it definitely became our neighbor's problem at that point.
Kevin went off to the Angel game, and I eventually contacted our neighbor. She had the hive removed on Sunday, Mother's Day. Unfortunately, we weren't home because I would have loved to see them remove it!
OK, so I have an even weirder update to this story.  I talked to my neighbor and she said the Bee Man discovered that it wasn't a hive that was two feet by one feet large. It was a swarm of bees "resting" in her tree!!  On their journey, the bees rest for about 24 hours, then fly off. Can you imagine how many bees it took to make that big of a "shape" and hang there???  Yikes!!  So, my neighbor didn't have to pay to have a hive removed and the bees moved on by themselves. End of story!
