A Win-Win Situation

Every time I take the Euclid exit off of the 91 Freeway, there is someone there to beg for money.  Today, I found a refreshing different spin on this practice, pun intended. There was a nicely dressed, clean man at the off-ramp. His sign said, "Laid Off Dad".  He was selling ice-cold bottles of water for $1.00.  And, he had a booming business!  I bought a bottle as I was sitting at the red light, and he sold many more during the duration of that light.
Now, to me, this is a win-win situation.  Tired, thirsty commuters would love a cold bottle of water.  This dad was easily making $.60 to $.65 per bottle, depending upon where he bought the water.  I would much rather support someone, who is willing to give me product for my donation.
My heart aches for all of the people who are laid-off.  I can't help them all, but I felt good helping just one "Laid-Off Dad" today.

I really liked this post, Mom. I have no sympathy for beggars, but it sounds like this man is trying to work. Now, who knows if his story is true, but at least he's not looking for an easy handout. Oftentimes, if someone says "need $ for food," I purchase food & bring it back vs. just handing over $5. Nice job, Laid Off Dad!
