I love the feel of a book in my hands. I love turning the pages and visually seeing my progress as I read through the pages. However, I can see the writing, or printing, on the wall. The future of books will be electronic. As a proponent of public libraries, I worry about this development.I talked with an airline flight attendant recently and she loves her Kindle. Easier to use, rather than packing several hardcover or paperback books. I can understand that totally.
The eBook industry is booming, with new versions coming out faster than you can say download. Amazon has its Kindle, Sony has its Sony Reader, and Barnes and Noble has its Nook. But, there are several other eReaders in the pipeline, so hold off buying any right now.
Amazon's Kindle 2 DX is wireless. The Nook can download print newspapers. Things are moving fast in this industry.
I'm not jumping on the bandwagon yet. Especially because those suckers cost a lot of money! I remember when my first VCR cost us close to $700! Now, even DVD players are $25-$50. I'm sure I'll eventually succumb, but not yet!
